My woman picks ‘sindoori red’ this fall for the Ba’raat. To me this color has its own character, a certain identity and arrogance that is quietly understated. I see her clad in a cotton-net Hyderabaadi kamiz, festooned with traditional antique-gold zamindozi kamdani with guldozi on the side panels and dupatta. She pairs it with a rich, incandescent banarsi azaar trousers and ties it all up with a soft yet perfectly coiffured bun at the nape of her neck. Chunky Bengali balas, and whimsies like a baroque statement ring reinstate poise and precision; with Kohl rimmed eyes and a heavy doze of Chanel’s Rouge Allure in Independante, she could just be stepping out of Khamsa of Nizami, as my very own muse for tradition, rekindled.
